Everyone doesn't always want to be scared stiff while attending a Halloween attraction, especially with smaller kids. Luckily a great time can still be had at Adventure Acres, the best scary Halloween attraction in the state of Ohio. This recent restored 62 acre farm is home to a number of unique attractions, including 4 separate corn mazes (combined it has over 8.5 miles of trails and paths), a spooky haunted hayride, a corn cannon, games and puzzles, hot dogs and marshmallows, and more. Open from August 28 until November 7, this year's maze is more complex and puzzling than any other attraction in Ohio. For family friendly fun, this is the best attraction around. Located at 784 S. Alpha-Bellbrook Road, in Bellbrook, Ohio, admission ranges from $9 for adults to $6 for children and seniors. Kids under 6 are always free. The corn maze is open on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Friday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Truly Frightening Experiences
If you'd like to experience true terror, you need to attend one of the many truly haunted places in the United States, and there are plenty of terrifying locations to choose from. As the scariest, we will need to put forth Waverly Hills Sanatorium, especially due to its very finite time frame for terror. This sanatorium, which is located in Louisville, Ky., was originally create to help treat tuberculosis patients. During the time it was open, thousands died from both the illness and the treatments, which could be called horrific at best, often involving the removal of organs and tissue. There is even a place known as the body chute, which was used to transport the recently departed to the graveyard. Tours are available where you can see this horrifying hospital, which has seen deaths in its walls even after its closing. The tours won't last forever, however, since the proceeds from tours are being used to transforms the sanatorium into a hotel. This place is truly terrifying, especially when the shadow people come out.
Best Haunted Trail
If you're looking for a fright outside, taking in a haunted trail or hayride could be just the thing. Not only is Halloween time the perfect weather to be outdoors, but some of the scariest Halloween attractions can be seen outdoors. Taking in a haunted hayride at Adventure Acres will not only give you the chance to see something other-worldly, but if you happen to not, you'll still have a great time going through the 62 acre farm via one of the antique tractors. Yet another great attraction that is available at Adventure Acres. Most hayrides last for around 30 minutes and with the cost of admission you get access to the corn maze and a number of other attractions available at the facility, including a pumpkin patch and over 8.5 miles of corn maze fun.
Best Creative Alternative Attraction
Creativity can go a long way when it comes to the scariest Halloween attractions, and finding unique haunted houses can often be a challenge. Traditionally, you have the authentic haunted homes or structures where actual paranormal activity has been detected and those with set up characters when you're lead through a pre-determined path. How about going onto a haunted boat? The U.S.S. Nightmare, located in Newport, Ky., takes you on a haunted tour through an old steamboat. Not only are you given a quick history of the boat, which is believed to be haunted, but you're taken on a tour filled with scary happenings, including ghouls, ghosts, murderers, and other things that go bump in the night.

Regardless of what your selection is, there are a number of scary attractions that can be found throughout the United States for this Halloween. Adventure Acres, located just outside of Dayton, Ohio, is one of the largest corn mazes in the United States, and with its combination of interesting activities and scary time, it's no wonder why it's one of the best scary Halloween attractions that can be found in the United States.
