Children love nothing more than being able to run through the patches themselves and pick out the best pumpkin that they deem will be their very own. Parents enjoy this time just as much as the kids, for they too get involved with this venture and pick out pumpkins for themselves. Some couples have even made a game of it and get what they call "his and her" pumpkins. At Adventure Acres, the family has the chance to take on an adventure of a lifetime by wondering through four different mazes that add up to a mounting 8.5 miles. Each season, the owners of the farm change their maze designs; creating some of the most elaborate designs that are simply put, incredible. From a bird's eye view, you're able to see what new designs they've come up for the current season, which this year, one of their designs just happens to be a montage to the football season, and appropriately, the design itself is that of an Ohio State football member catching a football. This is just one of the four mazes that can be explored in the fields. With mazes, the best thing about them is that you have no clue where each turn you take can take you, making the experience just that more worthwhile.
Once you've explored all of the corn mazes to your hearts desire, there are other activities available to help calm the senses. One of the best calming experiences at this festival are their hay rides. Everyone knows of the wondrous joys and relaxation that comes with hay rides. Sitting in a carriage, as you're being pulled along by one of the two infamous tractors on the farm, you're able to look upon the landscape and awe at natural beauty of their property and the fall season. Everything from the glorious colors of the leaves, the natural wildlife, the smell of the crisp air, the enormous trees, and the amazing sounds of nature themselves. During these hay rides, you have the choice of being dropped off at a fire pit, where you can sit while you and your family roast marshmallows. As you warm yourself, you can engage in conversation with your family about the entire day, what they enjoyed the most, and enjoy a s'more or three.
As your return to the barn is complete, children have the chance to play on the pirate ship. Here, children are able to allow their imagination run wild with the Halloween season and create games of being pirates, saving princesses, going on a treasure hunt and fighting other pirates.
