What is even better is the Halloween holiday that awaits those at the end of the month. In Dayton, Ohio, corn mazes hold a favorite secured slot on the schedules of many people.
Going to a corn maze allows people the chance and opportunity to indulge in the thrill seeker side of themselves. Some corn mazes are made to be scary and filled with horrific sights and sounds to play on the frightened senses of visitors. While other corn mazes allow visitors to create their own thrill seeking sensations, these mazes add nothing extra to tantalize and fright the senses, they leave up to the visitors to create their own emotional experience. In Dayton, Ohio, corn mazes have exactly that potential that people are looking for, especially when they visit Adventure Acres.
Adventure Acres is a family run farm that is located just a few miles outside of Dayton, Ohio. Known for their corn mazes, pumpkin patch, pirate ship, cow train, and hay rides. This farm has provided their visitors with the fun of countless festivals all combined into one place, and for an affordable price.
Visiting Adventure Acres has provided visitors of all friends and relations the time of fun, relaxation, and laughter. Known for their corn mazes, this farm has made a name for itself by using 76 acres of their land for their business. For their corn mazes, Adventure Acres has created four very unique mazes that, when added together, result in 8.5 miles of confusing twists and turns down every pathway. What makes these mazes all the more intriguing to the massive visitors are the designs of these labyrinths themselves. Pictures taken from a bird's eye view easily shows exactly how much detail went in the design of these mazes. In one of the mazes, there is a depiction of a football scene, paying homage to the college football season. In this design, there is an Ohio State University and Michigan University football player both catching a football. At the top of this design is the OSU football logo, and at the bottom is the Michigan University logo. This is just one of the four amazing designs that this family has created. Each year, Adventure Acres changes their designs in a new celebration representing the fall seasons. Within these mazes are carefully placed watchtowers that help visitors to see over the mazes. These watchtowers have aided visitors in their escape from these labyrinths, and to find their party should they become separated. For others, it serves as the perfect viewpoint as they watch their friends and family members make their way through as they get incredibly lost. It's perfect for getting photos of the times in which will always make you laugh while telling the story later.
Next to the corn mazes are the infamous corn cannons. The notion of corn cannons appeals to the masses simply because they have the opportunity to launch ears of corn throughout the corn fields. Placed randomly throughout the corn fields are targets that people are able to aim for. These cannons are powered by air pressured tanks that allow the corn to travel the length of 500ft., which is the distance of two whole football fields. Those who are of a competitive spirit has fun challenging the members of their group to see who can hit certain targets the most, or who can launch their ears of corn the furthest. However for others, it's more than enough fun to simply launch corn from a cannon for the sheer amusement of it.
For children, they have the chance to have their own fun especially created for them. The pirate ship and cow train has been a great joy for kids to enjoy. The pirate ship is a crafted playground, where children are able to go and let their imaginations take them to the high seas, become pirates, and search for buried treasure. Children can run around as they rescue hostages, and have imaginary sword fights as they save the day and discover the treasure. The cow trains are carts in the shapes of cows that take children on a locomotive adventure of sightseeing through parts of the farm.
When playtime has concluded, visitors make their way to the amazing pumpkin patches of Adventure Acres. These pumpkin patches are filled with hundreds of amazing pumpkins that are impressive in size, color and weight. What is enjoyable about going through a pumpkin patch for many people, is that their Halloween isn't complete without their decoratively designed pumpkin. Children, parents, and others have the chance to go through the pumpkin patch to select as many pumpkins as they want that they designate to be the perfect Halloween pumpkin for their front porch and house. For some, they will watch their friends and families go picking pumpkins while they sit and enjoy a nice hot cup of apple cider. This drink is a fall treat that many never miss, and believe fall isn't complete without it.
The hay rides are a chance of relaxation and comfortable silence while riding on the back of a trailer.
